The Harvard Business Review blog recently published an interesting interview with New York Times graphics editor Amanda Cox on The Power off Visualization’s Aha Moments. It’s an interesting read and well-worth your time if you haven’t read it and are at all interested in data visualization.
There’s a great quote near the beginning of the article that made me chuckle and inspired a visual that I doodled on my iPad.
There’s a strand of the data viz world that argues that everything could be a bar chart. That’s possibly true but also possibly a world without joy.
Nicely designed posters with a few numbers on them aren’t really data viz.
