A week or so ago, someone tweeted that they had made this recipe for beer braised short ribs. The mention of beer and ribs got my attention so I checked out the recipe to try in our new crock pot. I’m not a big fan of following recipes because I don’t like constantly referring back to some tiny-text, finding where I was, finding the next ingredient, then going to get the ingredient, then forgetting how much of it was called for, going back to the tiny text-based recipe, finding my spot, … you get the idea. Recipes are just crying out for visuals, and sketchnotes seem like the perfect candidate. So, after making the recipe, which was fantastic BTW, I decided to capture it in sketchnote form to use again.
For those interested in trying the recipe, I used four bay leaves instead of the one called for in the original recipe. For the beer, I used Kona Brewing Company’s Longboard Lager. I think using something like a smoked porter would make this recipe even better, but I have a hard time pouring any nice bottle of dark beer into any recipe – I’d rather drink it. Hope some of you try it and if anyone else has made or seen sketchnote recipes, drop a line in the comments section.
