Visualizing Volcanic Eruptions with CartoDB

I just discovered CartoDB this week and got some time to try it out a bit. It’s a nice online data visualization tool for mapping data. I also came across a great resource for data recently,, and in it, found a data set of volcanic eruptions from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Seemed like a perfect first data set to use to try out. Check it out. It’s also interactive. Hover over the markers to see the name of the volcano, country, year and an index of how explosive the volcanic eruption was.

Global listing of over 500 significant eruptions ranked by Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI).
